North Carolina man arrested for stealing school bus

ROCKINGHAM, N.C. (WJZY) – Chad Dwayne Giddens, 37, was arrested for stealing a school activity bus, according to the Richmond County Sheriff’s Office.

On May 29, an officer noticed a cord leading from the base of a meter at one residence to another that was assumed to be unoccupied.

The officer contacted the property owner and she told him the residence should be unoccupied and asked if they could come in and look around.

While on the property, officers noticed a school activity bus parked between the two residences. After contacting the school bus garage, it was confirmed that the bus was stolen from their property.

Officers reviewed security video and identified Giddens of Ellerbe as the suspect who took the bus.

Officers found Giddens hiding in the closet of the unoccupied residence.

Giddens was arrested and charged with felony breaking and entering, felony injury to utility property, and felony theft of a motor vehicle.

He is currently being held in the Richmond County Jail without bond.
