Harrisburg overnight shooting investigation

HARRISBURG, Pa. (WHTM) – One person was shot and a person of interest was detained in Harrisburg overnight.

On Sunday, June 2, 2024, around 2:30 a.m., Harrisburg Police said they were in the 200 and 300 blocks of North 2nd Street for a bar and restaurant closure.

While in the area, officers said they heard multiple gunshots in the area of North 2nd and Locust streets. Officers said they immediately responded to the area and located a single adult male victim suffering from a gunshot wound.

Harrisburg Police said the victim was loaded into a police vehicle and transported to a local hospital for emergency care. Police say the victim was last listed in critical condition.

Other officers in the area located a possible person of interest.

Police say the individual attempted to flee from officers but was caught after a brief foot chase. The individual attempted to dispose of a firearm as he fled from officers, but officers recovered that weapon.

The investigation into this shooting is ongoing at this time.
