Harrisburg overnight shooting investigation

HARRISBURG, Pa. (WHTM) – One person was shot and a person of interest was detained in Harrisburg overnight.

On Sunday, June 2, 2024, around 2:30 a.m., Harrisburg Police said they were in the 200 and 300 blocks of North 2nd Street for a bar and restaurant closure.

While in the area, officers said they heard multiple gunshots in the area of ​​North 2nd and Locust streets. Officers said they immediately responded to the area and located a single adult male victim suffering from a gunshot wound.

Harrisburg Police said the victim was loaded into a police vehicle and transported to a local hospital for emergency care. Police say the victim was last listed in critical condition.

Other officers in the area located a possible person of interest.

Police say the individual attempted to flee from officers but was caught after a brief foot chase. The individual attempted to dispose of a firearm as he fled from officers, but officers recovered that weapon.

The investigation into this shooting is ongoing at this time.
