Spring Fire causes SR 87 NB lane closure in Tonto National Forest

A brush fire caused the closure of the northbound lanes of State Route 87 at Bush Highway Saturday afternoon.

The fire, called the Spring Fire, is currently estimated to occupy 1,500 acres.

Authorities ask drivers to look for alternative routes and use caution when traveling in the area. The left lane has been reopened, but the right lane remains closed. There is no estimated time to reopen the road.

Authorities say there are no reports of injuries or evacuations.

Another wildfire just north of the Valley caused the closure of Interstate 17 at Table Mesa Road, but the highway has since reopened.
