An early morning house fire claimed the life of one victim in Cramahe on Sunday morning.

Cramahe Fire firefighters responded to a call at 3.40am at a house on Blyth Park Road, east of Colbourne, and found the house completely engulfed in flames.

Brighton firefighters were called to help.

A man was later found dead in the bedroom; His wife escaped safely from the fire.

Cramahe firefighters, the fire marshal and the OPP are investigating. The fire is believed to have started in the garage and spread to the house.

Damage is estimated at close to a million dollars.
