Randy White elected as next Jacksonville City Council president

Kevin Carrico will be vice president.

There are few surprises as to what will be next year of the Jacksonville This will be the City Council.

As we reported in March, Republicans randy white, the current vice president, will be the next president starting in July. Normally, the vice president is elected president and there was no deviation here.

AND Kevin Carrico (also a Republican) will be the next vice president and will be in the circle of candidates for the top position of mayor Donna Deegan’s Third year.

White, a former deputy chief, deputy fire chief and head of the Jacksonville Firefighters Association representing the west side of Jacksonville, has been on the Council for five years.

Republican Nick Howland, who nominated White, praised his “quiet power” as being useful for whatever “challenges” await the 19-person legislative body. Actual president Ron Salem he supported White’s nomination and there was no opposition.

Carrico, vice president of operations for Boys & Girls Clubs of Northeast Florida, was nominated by former president Terrance Freeman.

“When things get heated, he stays calm, cool and collected,” said Freeman, a Republican.

Democrat Ju’Coby Pittman supported the nomination of the “visionary” Carrico, praising his “humanitarian” spirit and recounting his “growth over the years.”

Nick Howland said Carrico was his “best choice” but nominated Michael Boylan for vice president anyway, since he wanted to run.

Democrat Jimmy Peluso supported Boylan’s nomination before the 15-4 vote.
