North Carolina: Beachfront Home Collapses

An oceanfront home in North Carolina has collapsed, making it the sixth home in the Cape Hatteras National Seashore area to collapse in four years, according to the National Park Service (NPS). The latest collapse occurred this week at 24131 Ocean Drive in Rodanthe. Authorities said they had been monitoring the home after noticing it was leaning and contacted the owners. Cape Hatteras National Seashore officials said varying amounts of beach debris extend from south of the house collapse site to more than two miles north, within the Pea Island National Wildlife Refuge.
