OHIO – A recent report from lawn care services company LawnStarter ranked the dirtiest cities of the past year, and some places in Ohio made the list.

The report compared 152 of the largest cities in the United States, focusing on four categories: pollution, living conditions, infrastructure and consumer satisfaction. Initially, the report had collected around 200 cities for comparison, but due to lack of data, the number was reduced.

Here’s how Ohio cities ranked:

  • No. 42: Dayton
  • No. 50: Cincinnati
  • No. 57: Cleveland
  • No. 65: Akron
  • No. 67: Toledo
  • No. 137: Columbus

Additionally, Cincinnati was the number one city with the most landfilled waste per 100,000 residents, while Cleveland tied with five other states for having the least amount per 100,000 residents.

The five dirtiest cities in the United States are the following:

  1. Houston Texas
  2. Newark, New Jersey
  3. San Bernardino, California
  4. Detroit, Michigan
  5. Jersey City, New Jersey

The five least dirty cities were:

  1. Virginia Beach, Virginia
  2. Sunnyvale, California
  3. Norfolk, Virginia
  4. Des Moines (Iowa)
  5. Fremont, California
