Probable Philadelphia Phillies pitchers and starting lineups vs. Cardinals, June 2

The Philadelphia Phillies (41-18) face the St. Louis Cardinals (27-29) in the series finale on Sunday Night Baseball. They are looking for a series sweep and their fourth consecutive victory after posting a 6-1 victory on Saturday despite starting pitcher Ranger Suarez’s scare.

The left-hander took a 106 mph comeback from his pitching hand in the second inning, but the Phillies dodged a bullet with X-rays that came back negative, according to MLB.com’s Paul Casella. Suarez could miss his next start, but the Phillies have the perfect replacement waiting in the wings in Spencer Turnbull.

The Phillies’ 41st win of the season extended their lead in the NL East to 7.5 games over the Atlanta Braves. He also increased his run differential to +100, the second highest in the majors behind the New York Yankees’ +105.

Update: 2B Kody Clemens was removed from the original lineup due to back spasms.
