LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) — Pride Month began across the country on June 1 with a local event held in southern Indiana.

Southern Indiana Pride held its festival Saturday at Big Four Station Park in Jeffersonville.

There were over 70 vendors focusing on inclusivity and celebrating the LGBTQ community.

About 5,000 people were expected to attend the event.

“I’m glad southern Indiana is involved in this,” Leighah Wheelar said. “I know Louisville has had a big Pride festival for a while, so this one is pretty new, so we’re really happy to be here and happy to support it.”

Kentuckiana Pride will take place on the Big Four Lawn in Louisville on June 15.
