Swimmer missing at Twin Lakes YMCA in Cedar Park

Police said they do not believe lifeguards were on duty at the time of the incident.

CEDAR PARK, Texas – A teenager died after an apparent drowning in a lake in Cedar Park.

Multiple agencies responded to reports of a missing swimmer in the lake behind the YMCA in Cedar Park Saturday afternoon.

After several hours of searching, authorities found the body of the missing 15-year-old boy.

Police said the teen was swimming with a group of friends in the lake behind the Twin Lakes Family YMCA when he began to feel distress. They also said they do not believe lifeguards were on duty at the time of the incident.

“I want to take this opportunity to express our deepest condolences to the family,” said Lt. Justin Miller of the Cedar Park Police Department. “This is a terribly tragic incident and we are doing everything we can with the family to provide support through this horrific incident.”

Police said Texas Game Warden are investigating the incident.
