Last day of free freshwater fishing weekend in Massachusetts

CHICOPEE, Mass. (WWLP) – It’s the last day of the free freshwater fishing weekend in Massachusetts!

A fishing license will not be required to fish in public lakes, ponds or rivers in Massachusetts on Sunday, June 2. All other regulations, which can be found on the Mass.gov site, will still be implemented.

This annual event is designed to encourage people of all ages to experience the joys of fishing. All participants must comply with catch limits and all other fishing regulations.

In Massachusetts, you are required to have a fishing license if you are 15 years old or older. All license funds support MassWildlife’s fisheries research, fish stocking programs, and educational programs. You can get a fishing license here.
