One dead in two-vehicle crash at intersection in northern Colorado Springs

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (KRDO) – An intersection in northern Colorado Springs remains blocked as police investigate a crash that left one person dead after a collision with another car.

The Colorado Springs Police Department says they received a call about an accident involving a large pickup truck and a motorcycle at the intersection of N. Hancock Ave and 4th St just before 7:30 pm Saturday night.

Officers say the driver of the pickup truck stopped at the intersection and proceeded to pull out onto the road, before a southbound motorcycle crashed into the pickup truck. The motorcyclist was ejected in the process and pronounced dead at the scene.

CSPD says several units from its Major Crash Team were on the scene around 9:15 pm Saturday night, as of this writing. As a result, the intersection at 4th and Hancock has been closed while detectives work.

CSPD says impairment has been ruled out as a factor, but speed and other factors are still being determined.
