Police driver fined $3,568 and loses license after ‘unsafe maneuver’ on Australian highway

A young driver had to pay an exorbitant fine and lose his license after police said he was caught “making (an) unsafe maneuver” while traveling at a speed of 115 km/h on a road with a limit of only 50 kilometers .

Highway patrol spotted the 18-year-old Mitsubishi driver carrying out speed enforcement duties on Campbell Hill Road in Guildford, Sydney, on Friday night. The black Mitsubishi Lancer, driven by license plate p, was observed on the wrong side of the road, crossing the double lines, attempting to pass another vehicle.

Police stopped the driver before issuing him three infringement notices totaling $3,568. These included exceeding the speed limit by more than 45 km/h, failing to keep to the left of the dividing line and overtaking when it was unsafe.

His driving license was also suspended on the spot for six months and his license plate was confiscated for three months.

Last week, another driver suffered a similar fate after being caught speeding 60 kilometers over the limit. The 25-year-old Honda driver was fined $2,794 after he was found to be driving 130km/h in a 70km/h zone in Sydney’s south.
