Massachusetts man accused of giving girlfriend abortion pill without her knowledge

BOSTON, Mass. (WLNE) – A Massachusetts man faces charges for allegedly giving his girlfriend an abortion pill without her knowledge.

Robert Kawada, 43, appeared in court Tuesday charged with poisoning and assault.

Police say he told the woman he was giving her iron and vitamin pills, but he was actually giving her what is believed to be misoprostol, a medication known to induce abortions.

The woman had a miscarriage after taking the medication.
