Travel warning issued with major engineering works affecting Metrolink trams

Passengers heading to and from Manchester city center could face serious disruption as engineering works take place this weekend. Transport for Greater Manchester (TfGM) says no trams will run through Victoria station on Sunday 2 June.

The works will affect Metrolink services on the Bury, Rochdale, East Didsbury and Manchester Airport lines. Services from Bury will terminate at Queens Road, while Rochdale trams will terminate at Monsall.

East Didsbury services will terminate at Exchange Square, while Manchester Airport trams will only run as far as Cornbrook. All Altrincham line services will terminate at Etihad Campus, rather than Bury.

Bus replacement services will be used, although TfGM is yet to confirm further details about these. A Bee Network spokesperson posted on X this morning (Wednesday): “On Sunday, no trams will run through Victoria due to planned engineering works.

“If you are traveling on the Bury, Rochdale, East Didsbury and Airport lines, please check before traveling. Replacement buses will be available between affected stops.”
