Ohio CBP raid nets millions in counterfeit products, fake Botox and knockoff Ozempic

It’s 1 a.m. at the Port of Cincinnati, prime time for U.S. Customs and Border Protection.

According to CBP agents, shipments of counterfeit drugs and goods arrive at this busy air transportation hub every day. It’s the agents’ job to catch these dangerous and sometimes deadly knockoffs before they hit the streets.

“At any given time of any given day you can see anything imaginable coming into the country,” said Eric Zizelman, CBP’s supervisory director in Cincinnati.

“We look at all the international cargo that comes in and out of the country and, unfortunately, we find many things.”

At the Port of Cincinnati, ABC 6 News joined Zizelman inside one of CBP’s high-security spaces filled with illegal pills and counterfeit pharmaceuticals.

Everything from fake Botox and fillers to counterfeit birth control and even a knockoff of the trendy weight-loss drug Ozempic has been seized at the Ohio border.

“You have no idea how this came about,” Zizelman said as he held up a fake bottle of Botox. “There are too many unknowns that make it very dangerous.”
