Boogie Ellis impresses at the California Classic

SACRAMENTO, Calif. (KTXL) – Many fans were talking about Boogie Ellis Sunday night.

Ellis, a USC freshman, led all scorers with 17 points in the Kings’ 85-59 win over San Antonio on Day 2 of the California Classic at Golden 1 Center.

“I’ve really been impressed, I think the energy changed when he came into the game,” Kings coach Doug Christie said. “It’s not that the energy was bad, it just wasn’t ‘Boogie’ energy. And when he comes into the game, everything changes.”

Boogie Ellis, who went undrafted last month, joined the Kings’ roster after scoring 16.5 points per game at USC last season.

“I think I’m a great basketball player and I’m better than a lot of the players that were chosen,” Ellis said. “But at the end of the day, I have to prove my effort, prove what I can do.”

“So I just keep working, keep my head down and keep working. It’s going to pay off.”
