Gasoline prices rise in Massachusetts but are lower than the national average

Gasoline prices in Massachusetts rose last week, averaging $3.46 a gallon for regular fuel on Monday, up from $3.40 a gallon the previous week, according to the U.S. Energy Information Administration.

The average price of gas in Massachusetts has fallen about 4 cents since last month. According to the EIA, statewide gas prices over the past year have been as low as $3.07 on Jan. 29 and as high as $3.76 on Aug. 7, 2023.

A year ago, the average price of gasoline in Massachusetts was 2% higher, at $3.53 per gallon.

Last week, the average price of gasoline in the United States was $3.48, making prices in the state about 0.6% lower than the national average. The national average gasoline price is up from last week’s average of $3.44 per gallon.
