Goalkeeper Jack Duncan has left Wellington Phoenix to join Melbourne Victory, having not made a single appearance for the New Zealand club.

Duncan (31) joined Phoenix for the 2023-24 season but was unable to break into the starting line-up in the Men’s A-League due to the excellent form of Alex Paulsen.

Announcing his signing, Melbourne Victory coach Patrick Kisnorbo said Duncan would be a welcome addition to the club’s goalkeeping squad.

“We are delighted to welcome Jack to the team for the upcoming season,” Kisnorbo said.

“Jack is a well-established goalkeeper in the league whose attitude and character will complement our team.

“We want Jack to compete for the number one shirt and we believe he has the attributes to be able to put pressure on our first-team goalkeepers to achieve this.”

Duncan made 104 A-League appearances for Newcastle Jets, and had spells with Danish side Randers FC and Saudi Arabian club Al Qadsiah.

“I’m delighted to be joining Melbourne Victory,” Duncan told the club’s website.

“Victory is always a club that wants to compete for titles and I am looking forward to helping the team and the club achieve that.

“I look forward to working with Patrick and the coaching staff to get the best out of myself this season and I am excited about the challenge ahead.”

Duncan joined the Phoenix in June 2023 following the departure of first-choice goalkeeper Oli Sail to Perth Glory.
