And so, the first phase of the MTA’s dreaded summer G train shutdown is over.

The second phase, which will last five times longer than the first, is set to begin July 5. And while the entire line won’t be shut down at once, the gradual closures are likely to cause headaches for Brooklynites until Labor Day.

Closures for repairs will be divided into three phases:

  • From June 28 to July 5, there will be no service between Court Square and Nassau Avenue in either direction.
  • From July 5 to August 12, there will be no service between Court Square and Bedford-Nostrand Avenues.
  • From August 12 to September 3, there will be no service between Bedford-Nostrand and Church Avenues.

The MTA says it will operate shuttle buses along the G line route during the closures.

During weekdays, these buses will run every four minutes for most of the day, and every five to ten minutes during the afternoon and evening.

On weekends, the service will typically operate every three to five minutes during the day.
