Fatal shooting closes part of Charlotte Pike

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) — Authorities closed at least part of the highway to investigate a fatal shooting on Charlotte Pike Friday night.

Metro dispatch said at least one man was taken to Vanderbilt University Medical Center after authorities responded to a shooting call at approximately 6:21 p.m. Friday night. That call came in on the 6200 block of Charlotte Pike.


Metropolitan police at the scene said a middle-aged man entered a bakery and was walking to his vehicle when a dark sedan pulled up and several people got out of the truck and began shooting at the man. Police found between 40 and 50 bullet casings on the street.

The suspects followed him while continuing to shoot him before running into the street and collapsing.

The man was later pronounced deceased. Police on scene are unsure who the suspect is at this time and are reviewing video surveillance footage. No other details were immediately released. News 2 has reached out to Metro Police for more information.
