Surrey shooting sends one person to hospital with serious injuries

A shooting early Friday morning sent one person to hospital with serious injuries, Surrey RCMP said.

Police say they received reports of a person suffering from gunshot wounds around 5:30 a.m., and officers found the wounded man around 122 Street and Mall Access in the city’s Strawberry Hill neighborhood.

In an update later Friday morning, RCMP shared that the RCMP Major Crimes Unit is on the scene investigating.

“Investigators are working to determine the full circumstances surrounding the shooting. Evidence gathering is still ongoing, but initial indications indicate this was an isolated and targeted incident,” Corporal James Mason said in a statement.

No arrests have been made. RCMP are asking anyone with information about the shooting to call the Surrey RCMP non-emergency line at 604-599-0502. They are also asking for any dashcam or home surveillance footage in the area.
