Joe Biden ABC interview: George Stephanopoulos interviews the president in first interview since debate on Good Morning America

President Joe Biden will sit down with ABC News for a primetime special Friday night in his first television interview since last week’s presidential debate.

The president’s poor performance in the debate has prompted calls for him to drop out of the race from politicians in both parties.

Biden will speak with “Good Morning America” and “This Week” host George Stephanopoulos for the interview.

A first look will air on the Friday, July 5 edition of “World News Tonight with David Muir” and the interview will air in its entirety as a primetime special on Friday, July 5 at 8/7c on ABC News.

The interview and additional analysis will air again on Sunday, July 7 on “This Week.”

Biden, 81, has been criticized for his inconsistent debate performance. Texas Rep. Lloyd Doggett on Tuesday became the first House Democrat to call on Biden to withdraw from his candidacy.

Despite some calls for him to step aside, most Democrats have continued to support Biden as their candidate.

Former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi told MSNBC on Tuesday that the president had “a bad night,” but added: “He has judgment, strategic thinking and everything else.”

Democratic Sen. Bob Casey, who is running for reelection in Pennsylvania, expressed support for Biden on Monday afternoon when asked about the president’s performance in the debate, telling reporters he is confident Biden can run a strong reelection race and serve a second term.

“No, I’m not worried about that. Look, he had a bad night in the debate, but I think people know what’s at stake,” he said.
