$12 million Powerball winner who ‘never watched the lottery drawing’ sees numbers appear

A Victorian A man who “couldn’t remember the last time” he had seen a lottery drawing on television tuned in to the Powerball Last night, just to see their numbers go up one by one.

The Lara resident had the only division one entry in the whole of Australia in last night’s Powerball, taking home a $12 million windfall.

“I still haven’t really gotten over it,” he told a Lott official with a laugh this morning.

“I can’t remember the last time I watched a lottery drawing on television, but for some strange reason, I decided to watch it last night.

“I couldn’t believe what I was seeing when my numbers started to go up.

“I have my numbers memorized and recently added a new number because of someone’s birthday.”

These were the most winning places in the Australian lottery in 2023

Despite his huge windfall, the winner woke up and went to work this morning.

However, he says he plans to start thinking about retirement.

“This will be a great help for the future,” he said.

“I have already started reducing my hours and this will really help me in the transition to retirement.”

Last night marked the third time someone from the Geelong and South West Victoria region has won a division one entry this year, collectively scooping more than $17.42 million in prize money.
