Highs of 90 degrees forecast for central Pennsylvania this weekend

The National Weather Service is predicting more 90- to 95-degree weather and possible thunderstorms across central Pennsylvania this weekend.

The Harrisburg area is expected to see a high temperature near 92 on Friday with a 50% chance of precipitation after 1 p.m. Other places in central Pennsylvania, such as Lancaster and York, will see heat indices around 100 on Friday, the NWS said.

Temperatures in the 90s are also expected in Harrisburg, Carlisle, Chambersburg, Lancaster and York on Saturday and Sunday. Highs over the weekend are forecast to be between 90 and 94 degrees with a 20% to 30% chance of rain.

Cumberland, Adams, York, Lancaster, Somerset, Bedford, Fulton and Franklin counties are under a hazardous weather forecast with scattered thunderstorms, gusty winds, frequent lightning, small hail and heavy rain possible Friday afternoon and evening.

Temperatures after the weekend are forecast to remain between 90 and 95 degrees through Tuesday, the National Weather Service predicts.
