Fireworks accident on Long Island burns several homes – NBC New York

A 33-year-old Long Island man has been arrested in connection with a fireworks accident involving an 11-year-old boy and two burning homes, authorities said.

According to police, Karamjit Singh allegedly gave the boy the fireworks outside his Levittown home on the morning of July 4 and told him to light them. The firework malfunctioned and ignited a shed that became engulfed in flames.

Police say the fire spread to Singh’s home and a neighbor’s home. Both homes suffered significant damage, police said. No injuries were reported.

Sing is charged with arson, reckless endangerment, child endangerment and several fireworks-related offenses. No information was available Friday about a possible attorney for him.
