Chicago firefighters responded to more than a dozen fires confirmed to have been started by fireworks overnight across the city, officials said Friday morning.

Authorities said at least 13 fires related to fireworks have been confirmed.

At least one person was killed by a delayed ignition mortar device that caused mass trauma in the Hermosa neighborhood on the Northwest Side, according to Larry Langford, a spokesman for the Chicago Fire Department.

A full report on fireworks injuries will be released later.
