(WFXP) — It’s the end of an era for Nike’s Adapt self-lacing shoes. Nike announced it will no longer produce new Adapts and will also discontinue the accompanying app. The app was used to control light colors, lacing and other personalized settings.

Don’t worry, if you still have the app you can still use these features, but you won’t be able to transfer it to a new device or re-download it. If you don’t have the app, you can still tie your laces manually; however, without the app you’ll lose the color-changing lights and auto-tying features.

Nike said in an FAQ about the announcement: “We have had a long and successful run with our Adapt shoes and have introduced self-lacing shoe technology. However, we are no longer creating new versions of Adapt shoes.”

The shoes feature a sensor inside that adjusts as you put them on. Once the shoe is fitted, you can also tighten or loosen the laces manually using two buttons on the side.

The first Nike Mag sneaker was in 2016, when Nike released a very limited edition of the Nike Mag, the “Back to the Future II”-inspired sneaker that featured the seemingly magical technology of automatically lacing the shoe.
