EDON, Ohio (WANE) — A northwest Ohio woman took the stage in Coney Island, New York, on Thursday to compete in the Nathan’s Hot Dog Eating Contest for the second year in a row.

Cherish “5 Pounds” Brown, a resident of Williams County, Ohio, finished in ninth place with a total of 7.4 hot dogs, according to Major League Eating results.

In 2023, Brown ate a total of 6.5 hot dogs and finished in tenth place.

Although she enjoys competing, Brown told WANE 15 she also enjoys meeting new people and traveling.

“It’s almost like a big family… we always spend a lot of time backstage,” Brown said.

Nathan’s Hot Dog Eating Contest is held every 4th of July in Coney Island, New York City.
