INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — The Hoosier State will be well represented at this year’s MLB All-Star Futures Game.

Both Franklin, Indiana, native Max Clark and Holland, Indiana, native Colson Montgomery have been named to the lists.

The Futures Game is part of MLB’s All-Star Week. The Futures Game is scheduled for 4:00 p.m. on July 14 at Globe Life Park in Arlington, Texas, the home of the Texas Rangers.

Clark, who was selected by the Detroit Tigers with the third overall pick in 2023, leads the Florida State League this season with 47 RBIs and five home runs in 64 games.

Montgomery, selected by the Chicago White Sox in the first round of the 2021 draft, has been playing in Triple-A this season. He is hitting .213 with 10 homers and 32 RBIs.

MLB.com ranks Clark as the No. 10 prospect in the minor leagues and describes his development so far this way:

“The 6-foot-11 outfielder caught the attention of Detroit’s early evaluators with his plus-plus speed, which immediately made him one of the most athletic players on any field he appeared on, and his arm strength (he hit as high as 97 mph off the mound as a high schooler) gave him another asset on the defensive end. At the plate, he proved selective with his swings, rarely expanding the zone against lower-level pitching, and his left-handed swing worked well on all fields. He may need some time to adjust to the velocity, but the approach and physical tools are advanced enough that the modification will come over time.”
