SOUTH HADLEY, Mass. (WWLP) – South Hadley’s annual Fourth of July celebration brought families together for a night of fun and excitement as they celebrated America’s birthday.

This year, attendees were treated to a spectacular fireworks display at Michael E. Smith High School. There were activities for everyone, from face painting to rock wall climbing to bouncy castles. Many told 22News that this event was a perfect way to celebrate Independence Day.

“It’s an amazing feeling,” said Nicki Jamrog of South Hadley. “We’ve been waiting for this all weekend getting ready for it, so we’re looking forward to it.”

“It’s a great way to kick off the summer for people to enjoy a family evening,” added Human Services Director Andy Rogers. “It’s really crucial for the city.”

If you were unable to attend the festivities on Wednesday evening, you still have the chance to attend on Thursday. The rides and food stalls will remain open to the public from the evening onwards.
