A 4-year-old girl has died after police say she was left unsupervised in a vehicle in northwest Houston.

HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) — A 4-year-old girl died after being left unsupervised in a car Wednesday night in northwest Houston, police said.

Investigators said the girl was with two women and other children in a Chevy pickup truck. They were all running errands when they pulled into a parking space at an apartment complex in the 6500 block of Hollister.

The women and other children went into an apartment, but left the 4-year-old girl behind. Investigators believe the girl remained in the car for about an hour until one of her parents found her and called 911.

The girl was taken to hospital, where she was pronounced dead.
