Police and FBI are searching for an Illinois man who allegedly scammed a New Ulm woman

New Ulm police are investigating after receiving a report at 10:43 a.m. Tuesday from a New Ulm woman who said she was scammed out of $85,000 through an online investment account. The woman told investigators she was told to pay $85,000 in gold. The woman allegedly met a man in a gray Ford Edge in the Walmart parking lot and handed him the gold. Police are working with the FBI to try to find the suspect, believed to be a 30-year-old man from Aurora, Illinois. The man was reportedly in the New Ulm area for several days prior to Tuesday.
