The American Legion will bring its 2029 national convention to Indianapolis

INDIANAPOLIS — Indianapolis has been selected as the host city for the American Legion’s 110th national convention in 2029.

The American Legion has selected Indianapolis to host its 2029 convention from August 24-29, 2029. This will be its first visit since 2019.

“The American Legion is excited to return to Indianapolis for our 2029 National Convention. Indianapolis is one of the most patriotic and veteran-friendly cities in the United States,” said Michael E. Walton, chairman of the American Legion Convention Commission. “Our American Legion national headquarters is in Indianapolis, and I and many of my Legion brothers and sisters enjoy returning to Indianapolis twice a year for our national meetings. Indianapolis is an easy city to navigate; each time we return, we see another new update and improvement. Our entire American Legion family looks forward to returning to Indianapolis for another outstanding National Convention in a city that truly loves and appreciates veterans.”

The convention is expected to attract 8,000 attendees and have an economic impact of $12.5 million.

The American Legion is headquartered in downtown Indianapolis and has been there since 1919.

“We are thrilled to welcome the American Legion back home,” said Leonard Hoops, president and CEO of Visit Indy. “Attendees will see the growth of our city in the 10 years between conventions, especially our changing cityscape, with the sixth expansion of the Indiana Convention Center and the new 40-story, 800-room Signia by Hilton hotel.”
