Will it rain on July 4th in Massachusetts? Here’s what we know

Some Fourth of July celebrations have already been marred by rain, forcing fireworks shows to be rescheduled in some Massachusetts cities and towns. So what does the forecast look like for Independence Day?

The National Weather Service said there is a chance of rain Thursday afternoon and evening across most of the state. However, the chance is 20 to 30 percent. There is also a chance of thunderstorms in the Berkshires Thursday afternoon.

Partly sunny is expected for most of the day with a high temperature near 87 degrees.

No rain is expected on Cape Cod until early Friday morning. July 4 is expected to be partly sunny with a high near 79 degrees.

In May, the Farmers’ Almanac long-range weather forecast indicated that the July 4 weekend is expected to be “generally pleasant” with clear skies. This includes July 4-7.

These are the only days in July when the Farmer’s Almanac does not predict rain.
