Power outages affected more than 102,000 Indiana customers after storms – Indianapolis News |  Indiana Weather |  Indiana Traffic

(WISH) — More than 102,000 Hoosier customers were without power as of 5:30 p.m. Tuesday after storms moved through Indiana, according to PowerOutage.us.

The National Weather Service issues storm warnings for parts of Indiana between Evansville and Indianapolis on Tuesday afternoon. The areas with the most power outages were the eastern Indiana counties between those two cities.

The Monroe County Emergency Management Agency told News 8 that trees were downed at homes in Bloomington.

The chief meteorologist for Storm Track 8 says a gust of 78 mph was reported at 4:12 pm Tuesday in Bloomington.

The Avon Police Department reported that Raceway Road at the Indianapolis border was closed at 5:14 p.m. Tuesday from Jackson Street to Westdrum Count. A tree fell onto the road and collided with a vehicle, police say.

Tree damage was also reported in and around Terre Haute and Knox County.

Martin County reported that Spout Springs Road from the Town of Shoals to State Road 550 is closed due to downed trees and utility lines.

The outage occurred around 5:30 pm at Indiana’s major electricity providers.
