Arlington office buildings could become apartments

A 16.2-acre site along the south side of the Arlington Expressway better known by its former identities as Jim’s Place, the FBI headquarters and Offshore Power Systems is fenced off and being redeveloped for housing.

The former FBI building is undergoing extensive renovation, while the other two office buildings, still called Three Oaks Plaza, are vacant and extensively vandalized with graffiti and broken or missing windows.

Pending negotiations, approvals and market conditions, the three office buildings and a second phase could create 779 affordable, workforce, market-rate apartments at the property.
