Cruisin’ Zeake exceeds 0K raised for Hospice of Northwest Ohio

PERRYSBURG, Ohio (WTVG) – A classic car show on Father’s Day weekend is sure to provide family fun, but Saturday’s show at Levis Commons in Perrysburg meant more than that.

After 14 years of raising money for Hospice of Northwest Ohio, Cruisin’ Zeake reached $100,000 raised. Zeake said his group’s car shows are the second-largest fundraising event for the charity.

They topped six figures by just $16 at Saturday’s Classic Car Show at Levis Commons. 50/50 profits and all money in the donation jar will benefit Hospice.

“I’ve got people behind me, it’s not just about Cruisin’ Zeake,” Zeake said. “The automotive community has hearts of gold. When I ask them to step up, they are there.”

Organizers say they chose the charity because many people in the area have some kind of connection to Hospice.

“We’re old people, car people,” Zeake said. “We’ve had family and friends use Hospice, and that’s why the donation jar is full.”

They haven’t finished raising funds yet. The group will continue to raise money for Hospice until the end of its car show season.

Here are some of the upcoming Cruisin’ Zeake events:

  • Landings of Oregon Car Show: July 2, 6-8 pm, 3450 Seaman Rd, Oregon, OH 43616.
  • Red, White and Vroom Car Show: July 4th, 100 – 200 blocks of Adams St., Port Clinton, OH 43452.
  • Lucas County Fair Car Show: July 14, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., 1406 Key St., Maumee, OH 43557.

Hospice will receive its check at Cruisin’ Zeake’s New Year’s Eve Banquet.
