CTA Brown and Purple Line trains delayed in Sedgwick due to ‘medical emergency’

CHICAGO – Significant delays were reported Wednesday night on the Brown and Purple lines following a medical emergency on the Sedgwick tracks.

According to the CTA, “Brown and Purple line trains are stopped in Sedgwick and Loop-bound Brown and Linden line trains are stopped near Sedgwick due to a medical emergency on the tracks.


“Kimball-bound Brown Line (and) Purple Line trains are running, but they are not stopping in Sedgwick.”

Crews are working to restore full service.

As a result, CTA shuttle buses are available between Southport and Clark and Lake to provide connecting service.

CTA riders are also encouraged to consider alternative routes.

While details remain limited, SkyCam9 flew over the scene and witnessed dozens of passengers getting off the Brown Line train in Sedgwick.

Municipal paramedics were also at the scene.
